Japanese National Railways Imperial Train No. 1 (Showa Era Specifications)
5 Cars Set
Information
●The "Omeshi-ressha No. 1" (Imperial Train Set No. 1)—a five-car formation centered around the "New No. 1 Imperial Carriage" built in 1960—traveled across the country for many years as a dedicated train for the Imperial Family. Constructed using lightweight carriage standards, the Imperial Carriage features a central Imperial compartment flanked by an anteroom, a restroom, and a lounge; the Imperial Chrysanthemum Crest is affixed to the exterior of the Imperial compartment. The accompanying carriages coupled at either end of the Imperial Carriage—known as *gubusha* (attendant carriages)—are semi-steel, three-axle bogie cars originally built in 1931; their equipment and interiors were modernized to coincide with the construction of the New No. 1 Imperial Carriage.
