●JR Kyushu’s "Seven Stars in Kyushu" is Japan’s first full-scale cruise train, having commenced operations on October 15, 2013. Based on the concept of "a journey to encounter a new life," it travels across various tourist destinations in Kyushu and enjoys immense popularity not only among passengers but also among the local residents living along the route. The train consists of an eight-car formation—comprising seven 77-series 7000-subseries passenger cars and a dedicated DF200-7000 locomotive—and exudes a refined, elegant beauty with its lustrous, glossy finish. It underwent a renovation in October 2022; the dining car (Car 2) was converted into the "Mokusei" (Jupiter) salon car—featuring a newly installed tea room—while a gallery shop and the "KAZ BAR" were added to Car 3.
