●The Wafu 29500 is a covered brake van, of which a total of 650 were manufactured between 1955 and 1961. Based on the track record of previous covered brake vans, the design took into consideration the conductor's working environment, with a cargo compartment with a load capacity of 5 tons and a floor area of 15.05 m2, and a conductor's compartment with a floor area of 6.73 m2, as well as the installation of a stove and benches for resting, and a deck for easy boarding and disembarking. In addition to mainline freight trains hauled by D51 locomotives, the Wafu 29500 was used for a wide range of purposes, including short-form freight trains seen on local lines operated by C56 locomotives.
