Chichibu Railway Deki 201 (black)
Information
Chichibu Railway has been using many electric locomotives for transporting ore freight trains. The Deki 100 series, manufactured before 1963, was replaced by the Deki 200, 300, and 500 series, which were later upgraded in power and appearance. The Deki 200 series, which used a special bogie called an L-shaped axle beam type to prevent slipping, had problems with increased unsprung weight and maintenance difficulties, so the bogies were changed to a more conventional structure for the Deki 300 series, three of which were manufactured in 1967. The Deki 500 series, seven of which were manufactured from 1973, is a model that underwent minor changes based on the Deki 300 series, such as changing the air compressor and adopting a sealed beam headlight. There are small differences between each car, such as the Deki 501 and 502 having a small front window similar to the Deki 300, the Deki 503 and later having a larger front window, and the Deki 506 and 507 having taillights embedded in the bottom of the car body. Each car was painted in a variety of colors depending on the period, but they were basically blue with a white stripe and were used to pull freight trains.
