Information
●The EF64 is a DC electric locomotive that debuted in 1964 for use on steep-gradient lines; it is highly versatile and was also employed on flat sections of track.
Many of the "0-series" units inherited by JR Freight underwent refurbishment; while the original livery featured a three-color scheme of light purple, sky blue, and deep blue, this was changed around 2002 to a two-color scheme of light purple and deep blue.
Locomotives based at the Shiojiri Depot operated on the Chuo and Shinonoi Lines until 2008, while those from the Aichi Depot served on the Chuo and Shinonoi Lines until 2011 and on the Hakubi Line until 2013.
