JR ED75-700 early model (JR specification)
※Equipped with a new slotless motor
Information
●The ED75 was introduced in 1963 as the JNR's standard AC electric locomotive, and is a dual-purpose passenger and freight locomotive with tractive force comparable to that of an F-class DC electric locomotive, despite being a D-class. Ninety-one 700-series cars were manufactured from 1971 in conjunction with the electrification of the Akita-Aomori section of the Ou Main Line. Because the cars run along the Japan Sea coastline, their main features include a clean rooftop, with the extra-high-voltage equipment housed inside the cars to withstand salt damage, cold, and snow, and a cross-type pantograph with a lower frame that reduces snow accumulation.
◆ Equipped with a newly developed slotless motor as standard
By adopting a newly developed slotless motor, it demonstrates smoother and quieter running performance than existing motors.
