Information
The 14 series was introduced in 1971 as a distributed power source passenger car with the service power supply installed under the floor of the Suhanefu 14 type.
Since 1982, the Noto Express has been operated with a mixed formation of 14 series sleeper and seat cars, and as the route includes the Usui Pass section, the EF62 type has been towed between Ueno and Naoetsu, but it was converted to an electric train in 1993.
