JR 14 Series-200 Passenger Cars (Moonlight Kyushu)
8 Cars
Information
●The 14 Series 200 series were modified versions of the 14 Series passenger cars developed by JR West for fluctuating demand. These modifications included changes to the seating, the installation of larger luggage racks, and a repaint.
The Moonlight Kyushu was an overnight express train that operated between Kyoto (later Shin-Osaka) and Hakata, mainly during spring, summer, and the New Year's holiday period.
It primarily used 14 Series 200 series cars from the Kyoto General Depot, operating as a six-car train with an observation car on the Kyoto end.
From the summer of 2005, the train was changed to an eight-car formation, but from the winter of 2006, it became an eight-car formation without the observation car, and service ended in the winter of 2009.
