●Introduced starting in 1990, these trains—comprising 40 cars across five trainsets—were the first original rolling stock for the Semboku Rapid Railway. A key feature is their painted aluminum-alloy bodies with non-gangwayed front ends; they also incorporate technologies such as VVVF inverter control to achieve streamlined maintenance, energy efficiency, and reduced weight. Refurbishment work began in 2015, and from 2021, under-floor equipment—including the VVVF inverters—has been updated, with some trainsets receiving a new livery.
