JR EF64-0 (Unit 37 / Brown)
Information
●The EF64 is a DC electric locomotive designed for steep-gradient lines, introduced in 1964.
For the EF64-0 series units owned by JR East, the tail lights were modified to an external-mount type during the installation of the ATS-P safety system, and units based at the Takasaki Rolling Stock Center were fitted with additional headmark brackets.
Unit No. 37 was repainted in "Budou No. 2" (brown) livery in April 2003.
While the Takasaki Rolling Stock Center's EF64-0 units were primarily stationed at Kofu and Shinagawa—where they hauled special trains and work trains—units No. 37 and No. 38 were transferred to the Nagaoka Rolling Stock Center for a one-year period between 2009 and 2010 to haul the "Akebono" limited express sleeper train.
