JR Kiha181 Series (JR Shikoku Color)
5 Cars Set
information
●We will be producing a model of the JR Shikoku KiHa 181 series, which played an active role as a limited express train connecting various parts of Shikoku.
The KiHa 181 series in Shikoku was active as a limited express diesel railcar connecting various parts of the country from the JNR (Japanese National Railways) era, and 44 units were inherited after the transition to JR. After the transition to JR, the image was completely revamped with a new paint scheme of ivory and sky blue, the corporate colors of JR Shikoku. Unique changes were also seen in the interior, such as the replacement of seats with reclining seats similar to the KiHa 185, and the conversion of the KiRo 180 type into the KiRoHa 180 type, a half-green car, in response to the increase in limited express services and the shortening of train formations. It was active on various limited express trains such as the "Nanpu," "Ashizuri," and "Shimanto" on the Dosan Line, and the "Shiokaze," "Ishizuchi," and "Uwakai" on the Yosan Line, until its withdrawal from regular service in 1993.
◆ Equipped with a newly developed slotless motor as standard
By adopting a newly developed slotless motor, it demonstrates smoother and quieter running performance than existing motors.
