We are recreating the Ku5000, a car transporter that was active nationwide in the 1960s for transporting cars.
The Ku5000 was introduced in 1966, a year when Japan's automobile production was steadily increasing, as an attempt to standardize automobile transport. It quickly became the star of Japanese National Railways freight transport, and at its peak, it was used for a dedicated express (later express) train called the "Arrow," with dedicated trains of up to 20 cars operating throughout the country.
Fine details such as the shape of the handrails have been revised, and this model is being released using new molds made with KATO's latest technology. Car accessories are also available, replicating the loading cars covered with protective sheets, as they were actually seen.
