4 Cars set
information
The 211-3000 series is a suburban train designed for cold and snow resistance, featuring long seats, which entered service in 1986 to replace the early non-air-conditioned 115 series trains.
These trains primarily operated on the Takasaki Line and other major lines such as the Utsunomiya Line, but were withdrawn from the Takasaki Line in 2014 with the introduction of the successor E233-3000 series.
From 2016, they were repurposed for local transport around the Takasaki area, replacing older trains such as the 107 series and 115 series, and the 211-3000 series trains were shortened to 4-car or 3-car formations.
In 2021, one 4-car formation (A28) was repainted as part of a project to revitalize the Ryomo Line area. The new color scheme combines the Ryomo Line's line color (yellow) with green, representing the mountains along the line, and is inspired by the local textiles (Yagasuri).
This train is active mainly on the Ryomo Line, as well as on various lines in the Takasaki area, the Shin'etsu Main Line, the Joetsu Line, and the Agatsuma Line.
