Information
The DE10 series belonging to JR Freight's Sendai General Railway Division was active in towing freight trains on the Ishinomaki Line and shunting at Sendai Freight Terminal, but was retired from regular service in 2022 due to being replaced by the DD200 series.
Even after retirement from regular service, DE10 series locomotives continued to be used as substitutes for DD200 series locomotives, with No. 1539 and No. 1591 remaining until January 2025.
No. 1539 was one of the early 1500 series locomotives manufactured, and was notable for being equipped with a DT132A engine.
No. 1591 was restored to JNR livery in 2016, and was active within the Sendai area from its introduction until its retirement.
