The DE10 series belonging to JR Freight Aichi Locomotive Depot was active in shunting in the Nagoya area, towing construction trains, and Class A out-of-service trains.
Locomotive No. 1557 was the only newly updated JR Freight vehicle without the JRF markings on the side, and was the last remaining DE10 series at Aichi Locomotive Depot.
In 2024, its final year of service, it was loaned to Okayama Locomotive Depot, where it operated alongside Locomotive No. 1561, but was retired in March 2025.
The DE10 series belonging to JR Freight Okayama Locomotive Depot was active in shunting at Kurashiki Freight Terminal and towing direct freight trains to Mizushima Rinkai Railway.
Locomotive No. 1561 was the last remaining vehicle at Okayama Locomotive Depot, and in addition to the interrupted white stripe on the front and black frame, which are characteristic of vehicles inspected at JR Freight Hiroshima Depot, silver decorations were added to the chimney and coupler in 2021.
Like No. 1557, No. 1561 will also be retired in March 2025, and with its retirement in the same area, all of JR Freight's DE10 series locomotives will be retired.
