Information
The WAM90000 series is a covered freight car representative of Japanese National Railways, manufactured from 1953. In addition to cars with the running gear of the WAM23000 series covered freight car modified to a two-stage link, new cars were also added from 1954.
During the JNR era, these cars were used for a long time and became synonymous with "black freight cars", but towards the end of the era, their numbers rapidly decreased due to a decrease in freight transport volume and their replacement with the WAM80000 series, and the type was eliminated in 1986.
