Information
The 485 series was introduced in 1968 as a limited express train compatible with three power sources: DC and 50/60Hz AC, and was used on electrified sections nationwide.
The "Kitakinki" is a limited express train that runs between Shin-Osaka and Kinosaki, and was introduced when the Fukuchiyama Line between Takarazuka and Fukuchiyama, and the San'in Main Line between Fukuchiyama and Kinosaki were electrified with the timetable change in November 1986.
The 485 series was collected from all over the country, and was characterized by a variety of modified cars and short formations of 4 or 6 cars.
From around 1990, the 485 series on the "Kitakinki" had their AC equipment removed and were converted into 183 series 800s.
The Kiha 65 Edel Tango is a joyful train that appeared in 1988.
The train of the same name, "Edel Tango", began operation on July 16, 1988 as a special express train that ran between Shin-Osaka and Amanohashidate, partially on the Kitakinki Tango Railway Miyafuku Line (now the Kyoto Tango Railway Miyafuku Line).
Between Shin-Osaka and Fukuchiyama, it was coupled with the 485 series "Kitakinki" express train, and both the up and down trains were unpowered, being coupled to the rear of the 485 series train and pulled by it.
The coupled trains of "Kitakinki" and "Edel Tango" could be seen until 1996, when "Tango Discovery" was introduced and began coupled operation with "Kitakinki", and when "Edel Tango" was discontinued.
