The EF60 500 series appeared in 1963 as a replacement for the traction machine due to the increase in the formation of the 20 series Blue Train that had been towed by the EF58. The blue body + cream color on the front and the style of the side band have become the standard paint color of the new electric locomotive that will be inherited by the later EF65.
