●● We are re-releasing the 2000 series—an iconic limited-express diesel multiple unit (DMU) of JR Shikoku—now equipped with a slotless motor. Serving as a limited-express train that connects Honshu with Shikoku, as well as various cities within Shikoku, the 2000 series holds the distinction of being the world’s first tilting DMU and Japan’s first train to feature a controlled tilting system. The prototype "TSE" trainset debuted in 1989 and was honored with the Laurel Prize that same year. Mass-production units followed in 1990, capable of operating at a maximum speed of 120 km/h. While many of the primary limited-express services have since transitioned to successor train models, the 2000 series—along with the N2000 series—can still be seen in active service today.
