The Hiroden 3500 series is a three-car articulated tram developed by the Japan Railway Technical Association as a testbed for a new generation of "lightweight" trams. It incorporated state-of-the-art technology for its time, including chopper control, regenerative braking, and a dual-handle master controller; these features significantly influenced the subsequent development of the 800 and 3700 series. Known by the nickname "Green Liner," these three-car articulated trams served the route from Hiroshima Station, continuing directly onto the Miyajima Line all the way to Miyajimaguchi.
