●Among the Wamu 80000-series covered freight wagons—designed for palletized transport—those built from 1975 onwards featured modifications, such as an increased wheelbase to improve running stability, and were consequently classified into the 200,000-series.
Many of these wagons were subsequently transferred to JR; however, most underwent further modifications—including the installation of roller bearings—which resulted in their reclassification into the 300,000-series and a change in their paint scheme to blue.
