Information
●To replace the aging 8000 series (formerly Tokyu 8000 series), Izu-Kyuko acquired surplus 209-2100 series trains—originally used in the Chiba area—from JR East and modified them for its own operations. Upon their introduction, the trainsets were shortened from six cars to four. Their exterior features a distinctive wrap design: red tones on the seaward side and blue tones on the mountain side, incorporating Hawaiian motifs such as sea turtles and hibiscus flowers, alongside patterns representing local specialties from various areas along the line. The color schemes for the pilot (skirt) and front-end stripe also differ by end: red for the lead car facing Izukyu-Shimoda and blue for the lead car facing Ito. As of July 2022, two sets—Y1 and Y2—are in service as the "Aloha Train," each featuring slightly different wrap designs.
