Information
●We are releasing a model of the 211 series trains that operated out of Ueno Station, handling medium-distance transport along the Takasaki and Tohoku Main Lines (Utsunomiya Line). Unlike the 0 and 2000 series variants introduced on the Tokaido Main Line (Tokyo area), these units featured model numbers increased by 1000 to denote specifications for cold-weather regions: the 1000 series featured semi-cross seating, while the 3000 series featured longitudinal seating; both debuted in 1985. Key features included snow-resistant brakes, semi-automatic doors, and snowplows, as well as a motor car unit configuration—using the Kumoha 211 and Moha 210 types—designed to facilitate shorter train formations in the future. Until around 2005, they operated in 10- to 15-car formations created by coupling two or three 5-car sets. Following the retirement of the 115 series in 2004, Green Cars (first-class cars) made available by the withdrawal of 211 and 113 series trains from the Tokyo area were reassigned to these lines; this resulted in a unique formation consisting of a 3-car set, two Green Cars, and a 5-car set, with the Green Cars positioned between the leading cars.
◆ Equipped with a newly developed slotless motor as standard
By adopting a newly developed slotless motor, it demonstrates smoother and quieter running performance than existing motors.
