●A total of 1,162 Koki 106 wagons were manufactured between 1997 and 2007. A key feature of this versatile container wagon is its ability to accommodate not only standard 12-foot containers but also non-standard sizes, such as maritime shipping containers and tank containers. The Koki 107 was introduced as an improved version of the Koki 106; it features a unit-style braking system (similar to that of the Koki 200) and a handbrake mounted on the deck railing. Capable of carrying a wide variety of containers—ranging from standard 12-foot units to maritime and tank containers—the Koki 107 sees extensive service on routes including the Tokaido and Sanyo Main Lines, the Tohoku Main Line (extending to Hokkaido), and the Sea of Japan Longitudinal Line. Versions equipped with tail lights are primarily operated in Hokkaido, along the Sea of Japan Longitudinal Line, and on the Tohoku Main Line, though they may also be seen in other regions during the snowy season. In recent years, the "JRF" logos on the sides of the wagons have been progressively removed, resulting in a simpler, cleaner appearance.
