JR EF64-0 5th Batch (Takasaki Rolling Stock Center)
Information
●The EF64 is a DC electric locomotive designed for steep-gradient lines, first introduced in 1964.
For the EF64-0 series units owned by JR East, the tail lights were modified to an external-mount type during the installation of the ATS-P safety system, and units based at the Takasaki Rolling Stock Center were fitted with additional headmark brackets.
While the Takasaki-based EF64-0 units were primarily stationed at Kofu and Shinagawa to haul special trains and work trains, units No. 37 and No. 38 were transferred to the Nagaoka Rolling Stock Center for a one-year period between 2009 and 2010, where they hauled the "Akebono" sleeper limited express.
