information
D51 793 was completed on November 18, 1942, at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Kobe Shipyard, with manufacturing number No. 362.

During and after the war, it was active mainly in the Nagoya area, centered on the Tokaido Line, serving in Inazawa, Maibara, and Ogaki. In 1950, it was transferred to the Kiso-Fukushima depot, and it operated on the Chuo Main Line until being transferred to Kanazawa in 1968. A smoke deflector was installed during its operation on the Chuo Line, which has many tunnels.

At the Kanazawa Depot, its number plate was changed to green, and the front end of the deflector on the official side was cut into a triangle to ensure the safety of workers. It was mainly used as a shunting locomotive within the depot and at the Mattō factory. It was decommissioned on June 25, 1965, and replaced by DD13 and DE10 locomotives.

It is currently carefully preserved at the Nagahama Railway Square in front of Nagahama Station.
