JNR Ohafu33 Post-war type (Brown)
Single Car
Information
●The Oha 35 series was one of the representative passenger car types of the Japanese National Railways (JNR) before the war, with over 2,000 units mass-produced, making it the most numerous passenger car series in Japan. It debuted in 1938 with a gabled and rounded roof, 1-meter wide passenger windows, TR23 bogies, and a structure that made extensive use of welding. Although pre-war production was discontinued in 1942, when manufacturing resumed after the war, due to a combination of factors such as difficulty in obtaining materials and advancements in construction methods, it appeared in a unique form that can be classified as a "post-war type." The bogies were also improved from the TR23 type with plain bearings to the TR34 type with domestically produced roller bearings. They were widely deployed throughout Japan and could be seen operating everywhere, from express trains to local trains.
