Information
The DD51 800 series, which was introduced for freight use, was notable for not being equipped with steam heating systems, and many of the cars inherited by JR East were used to pull freight trains on the Hachiko Line at Takasaki Depot.
Since the 1990s, they have been used mainly for construction trains and event trains, but all cars were taken out of service in November 2024.
