●Until the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen between Kanazawa and Tsuruga in March 2024, express trains such as the Thunderbird and Shirasagi ran from Osaka and Nagoya in the Hokuriku region, and the Hokuriku Main Line was so busy with conventional line express trains that it was nicknamed the "Express Highway." After the Hokuriku Shinkansen opened in Tsuruga, the above two trains were reduced to only running to Tsuruga, but the Noto Kagaribi express train, which runs from Kanazawa north along the Noto Peninsula to Nanao and Wakura Onsen, continues to operate, and is the only conventional line express train in the surrounding area. Currently, the 683 series 2000, which was previously used on the Thunderbird, is in charge of this operation.
