information
To further enhance the appeal of the Tobu Railway Kinugawa Line, a tourist steam locomotive train was planned. For this purpose, various JNR-type locomotives, passenger cars, cabooses, and equipment were collected from all over Japan, and the "SL Taiki" and "SL Futara" trains began operation in 2017. The DE10, a five-axle diesel locomotive originally operated by JR East, was introduced along with the steam locomotives. It is used for various purposes, including passenger car and steam locomotive inspections, auxiliary engines, and towing out-of-service trains. It also pulls special trains on other companies' lines. DE10-1099 is painted vermilion, while DE10-1109 is painted blue with gold stripes, resembling the locomotives used to pull JR Hokkaido's sleeper express trains. Yo-5000 (Yo-13785), a vehicle that was preserved by another company after its retirement from JNR service, has undergone restoration work but has not been registered. It is preserved at the Minami-Kurihashi Works and can be seen being pulled by a yard van during events.
