●The 315 series is a commuter train model developed by JR Central to replace the 211 series and other models manufactured around the time of the JR privatization. All cars are manufactured by Nippon Sharyo and are the first to adopt Nippon Sharyo's next-generation brand, "N-QUALIS." Eight-car through-train 0 series trains began operation on the Chuo Main Line (between Nagoya and Nakatsugawa) in March 2022. The 3000 series, which subsequently appeared, began operating as a four-car group on the Kansai Main Line (between Nagoya and Kameyama) in June 2023, on the Taketoyo Line and the Tokaido Main Line (between Obu and Ogaki) in March 2024, and in the Shizuoka area of ​​the Tokaido Main Line in June 2024, expanding their scope of use. The 3000 series is equipped with side-mounted cameras in anticipation of single-man operation using four-car 315 series trains, and further expansion is planned. The 313-300 series has been deployed to the Ogaki Depot since 1999, and is mainly used on rapid and local trains on the Tokaido Main Line between Hamamatsu and Maibara.
These two-car trains feature reversible cross seats (with fixed seats at the end of the cars). Starting in 2024, some of these trains were transferred to the Shizuoka Depot, where they began to be coupled with the 315-3000 series U trains.
