The Taki 3000 was a 30-ton tank car designed exclusively for transporting gasoline, with 1,594 cars manufactured since 1947. Many of them were privately owned by oil companies and others, and were used to transport gasoline all over the country, but due to aging they were all phased out by 2002.
Today, tank cars and container cars play a major role in freight trains, but during the Showa era, freight trains made up of freight cars for a variety of purposes were in operation.
