Informatoion
●The EF64 1000 was developed for graded tracks, with 53 cars manufactured between 1980 and 1982. While its performance is nearly identical to the 0 series, the 1000 series underwent a reassessment of specifications, including enhanced snow damage prevention measures, resulting in a completely different appearance from the 0 series. It was manufactured as the final DC electric locomotive of the Japanese National Railways (JNR). In recent years, the 1000 series has undergone a repaint change from the newly updated livery back to the standard livery, and both liveries are still in service today. Even after the repaint, changes to the exterior have been seen, such as the installation of a cooler above the driver's cab and the removal of the electric heating indicator lights on the side. With the completion of the repaint work for the standard livery, the need for identification was eliminated for subsequent inspection vehicles, and the standard livery was gradually adopted from 2017. Therefore, the 1000 series features the JNR-era livery but in JR Freight specifications.
