●The E233 series 0-series trains were introduced to the Chuo Line rapid service in 2006. Two types of formations are in operation: the T formation, which primarily operates on the Chuo Line rapid service, and the H formation, which is divisible and also operates on through services to the Ome, Itsukaichi, and Fujikyu lines.
In 2022, the first green cars for the E233 series on the Chuo Line were introduced with the aim of improving seating services. Unlike conventional double-decker green cars, these cars feature double-leaf sliding doors on the sides to speed up boarding and alighting times. After trial runs, they were gradually incorporated into commercial trains starting in October 2024, resulting in a 12-car formation with two green cars added to the previous 10-car ordinary train formation. Full-scale green car service began in March 2025, after all 58 target formations had been equipped with the green cars.
