Information
The H100 series is a new type of electric diesel railcar that began commercial operation in the spring of 2020, with the aim of replacing the Kiha 40 series trains that remain in various parts of Hokkaido.
From some of the additional vehicles introduced in 2022,ラッピング車両 (wrapped trains) featuring designs inspired by the characteristics of various regions of Hokkaido have appeared.
These vehicles are designed to be used as tourist trains, and the interior design differs from that of regular trains, featuring a special specification that allows for the installation of removable tables.
These two trains are mainly used on regular services on the Soya Line (Asahikawa to Nayoro), Sekihoku Line (Asahikawa to Abashiri), Senmo Line (Abashiri to Midori), and Furano Line (Asahikawa to Furano), and are also operated as extra trains during peak seasons.
