JR Kiha 185 Series Island Express Shikoku II
3 Cars Set
information
In 1999, the Island Express Shikoku II was a refurbished Kiha 185 series train, replacing the aging 50 series Island Express. Only two of the train's intermediate cars were designated as Island Express Shikoku II, and initially operated as a four-car train. However, in 2016, KiRo 186-4 was converted into an intermediate car for the Shikoku Mannaka Sennen Monogatari, and now the train operates as a three-car train. JR Kyushu purchased 20 Kiha 185 series cars that were surplus at JR Shikoku. Initially, each train had a different paint scheme, but in June 2018, the paint scheme for the Yufu and Kyushu Cross-Island Express trains was unified and the trains were gradually changed to the "AROUND THE KYUSHU" design.
