●The E8 series is a new train model for the Yamagata Shinkansen, which began commercial operation in March 2024. Based on the E6 series, it is based on the concept of "a train that weaves together rich natural features and hearts," and has been enhanced to accommodate diverse travel needs by installing large luggage storage in all cars and increasing wheelchair space. The exterior design follows the previous Yamagata Shinkansen colors of purple (Oshidori Purple), yellow (Safflower Yellow), and white (Zao Bianco), and is characterized by an "arrow line" shape with headlights located on both shoulders. Between Tokyo and Fukushima, it is coupled with the E5 series "Yamabiko" train and operates at a maximum speed of 300 km/h.

By adopting a newly developed slotless motor, it demonstrates smoother and quieter running performance than existing motors.
