●The 583 series is a limited express AC/DC electric train with both sleeping and seating compartments that was introduced in 1968. JR East's 583 series remained in small numbers even after it was taken out of regular service in the 2000s following the transition to JR, and was still in use mainly on special and group trains in the Tokyo and Kansai regions. It also saw exterior changes, such as the installation of a train radio antenna on the leading car and gray paint on the bogies and underfloor equipment, and was primarily used on the "Wakuwaku Dream" service, which ran from Akita and Aomori to Maihama on the Keiyo Line.
