●The Seibu Railway 5000 series, a reserved-seat express train introduced in 1969 with the opening of the Seibu Chichibu Line, won the Railway Fan Club's Blue Ribbon Award in 1970. Nicknamed the "Red Arrow," the 5000 series served on services such as the "Chichibu" and "Oku-Chichibu" trains, which ran between Ikebukuro and Seibu Shinjuku and Seibu Chichibu, and the "Musashi" train, which ran between Ikebukuro and Hanno. When first introduced, the 5000 series consisted of four cars, but two intermediate cars were added between 1974 and 1976, expanding the train to six cars. The 5000 series was replaced by the 10000 series express trains in 1993, and the 5000 series was retired in 1995.
