JR ED76-0 late model (JR Kyushu specification)
information
The ED76-0 series is an AC electric locomotive that appeared in 1965 to pull passenger and freight trains within Kyushu.
Based on the ED75 series, it was fitted with a steam generator to heat the passenger cars, which resulted in the lengthening of the carbody and the addition of an intermediate bogie to accommodate the increased weight, giving it a distinctive shape.
After the privatization of Japanese National Railways, the cars belonging to JR Kyushu were mainly used to pull passenger trains such as sleeper express trains, but when these trains were abolished, all of the cars were retired.
