After privatization, JR Freight repainted some of its locomotives in their original colors, and four EF65 locomotives, No. 21, 116, 1059, and 1065, were repainted in colors different from those of the JNR colors.
In 2024, the number plates of No. 2060 and No. 2065, which had already been retired, were changed to No. 1059 and No. 1065, and their original paintwork was restored.
