Information
The Nagoya Railroad 7000 Series is a limited express train developed based on the SR (Super Romance Car) cars such as the 5000 Series in order to compete with other transport operators.
The biggest feature of this series is that the driver's cab was moved to the roof and Japan's first full-view seats were installed at the front of the train, allowing passengers to enjoy unprecedented, dynamic views from the windows.
Since its introduction in June 1961, 116 cars were manufactured over a period of more than 10 years, and they were affectionately known as the "Panorama Car."
Between 1983 and 1988, special maintenance was carried out on 42 cars of the first and second batches and some of the third batch, including repairs to the body, filling in the end windows, and converting the front direction signs to electric direction signs.
The 7th, 9th, and 13th trains are six-car formations in which two 9th-batch cars are coupled in between the second-batch cars, which have undergone special maintenance. These formations allow visitors to enjoy the difference in shape between the second-batch cars' small distributed coolers TAC-15T2 and FS335 type bogies and the 9th-batch cars' large distributed coolers RPU2208 and FS384 type bogies and double-opening doors.
