JNR EF58 (with icicle cut/Brown)
Information
-The EF58 appeared in 1946 as a locomotive to meet passenger transport demand after the end of the war. Initially it had a box-shaped body, but later it was replaced with a streamlined body and other improvements were made, and 172 cars were manufactured by 1958. Among them, the No. 89 locomotive equipped with an icicle cutter was painted brown (grape color No. 2) in 1984 at the end of the JNR era and pulled an event train. After that, it was painted in general color again, but it was popular as the only icicle-cutting equipped locomotive among the few active EF58s, and was used to pull various event trains until 1999. It has since been preserved as an exhibition locomotive at the Railway Museum in Omiya.
