Information
The Kiha 54 is a general-purpose diesel railcar with two engines and a cab on both sides that was introduced in 1986. It is characterized by its lightweight stainless steel body that emphasizes durability, and 12 0-series cars for warm climates were introduced in Shikoku. A tourist trolley train has been running on the Yodo Line since 1984, at the end of the JNR era, and the trolley cars, which are modified from the Tora 45000 series, have become popular. The Kiha 54, which has a high engine output, is mainly used for pulling the train, and it is known for its unique operation of turning around at terminal stations to turn around. Initially, it was operated under the nickname "Seiryu Shimanto", but was retired in 2012, and in 2013 it was renovated with an all-yellow livery and made its re-debut as the "Shiman Trolley". After that, a pipe-shaped skirt was installed on the Kiha 54.
