The KoKi 10000 series was developed in 1966 for use on limited express freight trains (high-speed freight trains) on the Tokaido and Sanyo Main Lines.
It was painted the same blue No. 15 as the 20-series passenger cars, and was also nicknamed the "Freight Blue Train".
The KoKi 10000 can carry five 10ft containers, while the KoKiFu 10000 can carry four because it has a conductor's compartment.
