Yokohama Minatomirai Railway is a third-sector company funded by Yokohama City and Kanagawa Prefecture, and operates the Minatomirai Line between Yokohama and Motomachi/Chinatown. The basic operating format is the same as that of the Tokyu Toyoko Line, so it is used not only on its own lines and the Toyoko Line, but also for direct operations to the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line, Tobu Tojo Line, and Seibu Ikebukuro Line (Yurakucho Line), covering a wide area.
The Y500 series was introduced in 2004 to coincide with the opening of the Minatomirai Line, and while its exterior is almost identical to the Tokyu 5000 series, it is painted in a gradation of blue to represent the "sea of ​​Yokohama" and yellow to represent the "dynamic city," and the front end is painted in metallic blue to represent the "growing city."
The Y513 train set equipped with a Mitsubishi air conditioner is now available. It reproduces the current configuration with the digital radio antenna added to the roof of the lead car and the IR antenna from the middle car (Y560) removed.
