Information
The 285 series (Sunrise Express) is a limited express sleeper train that was introduced in 1998. Between Tokyo and Okayama, the 7-car "Sunrise Izumo" (Tokyo - Izumo City) and 7-car "Sunrise Seto" (Tokyo - Takamatsu) are coupled together to form a 14-car train. While the basic performance is the same, the 0-series of JR West and the 3000-series of JR Central have different car markings and underfloor equipment.
Since 2013, the train has been renovated with the addition of more pantographs and wider passenger doorsteps.
