information
The Hoki 4200 is a 4-axle bogie type 30-ton open hopper vehicle manufactured from 1959 to 1967 for transporting limestone. The basic structure is similar to coal transport wagons of the same period, with an opening/closing door at the bottom of the side for unloading, but the overall height is kept low due to the specific gravity of the cargo.
The Hora 1 is a 17-ton cement car manufactured in 1960, and is shaped like a Japanese National Railways two-axle coal car with a cover attached to the top. The cover was later removed and it was used for transporting limestone.
These freight cars were used in the Kitakyushu area until the early 1980s, and were painted solid black at the time of manufacture, but were later wrapped with a yellow belt indicating a maximum speed limit of 65 km. Initially owned by Aso Sangyo Co., Ltd., it later changed to Mitsui Mining Co., Ltd. (currently Nippon Coke Industries Co., Ltd.).
