Fully renewed commercialization of Wam 80000 series, the main model of 2-axis freight cars
Wam 80000 appeared in 1960 as a 15-ton double-axle covered freight car suitable for pallet transportation with the promotion of mechanization of cargo handling. It features a large side door with a structure that allows the sides of the car body to be opened and closed freely. It is a standard type freight car boasting the largest production of 26,605 cars in the history of Japanese railways. It is also the first format in which the paint color of Tobiiro No. 2 was adopted.
The 280,000 series is a group of majority called driving stability countermeasure vehicles with extended distance between axes.
