Information
The Kiha 143 type was introduced in 1994 by converting the surplus 50 series 51 type passenger car into a diesel car, and the one without a toilet was in the 100s and the one with a toilet was in the 150s.
Similar to the modified Kiha 141/142 series, the engine, bogie, and other driving relationships have been strengthened, and the maximum speed is 110 km.
It will be operated on the Taguma Line near Sapporo, but with the opening of electrification in 2012, five 2-car trains have been transferred to Tomakomai, and it is operated mainly on the Muroran Main Line.
